How Do Changing Seasons Affect Our Lifestyle?

Fall is approaching. While the season evokes beauty, warmth, and coziness, the shift from summer can stir a range of emotions. From eagerness and anticipation to moments of anxiety or lethargy, seasonal changes quietly influence our circadian rhythm.

As we “fall back” from longer, brighter days, our moods, routines, and energy levels may drift out of alignment.

This piece is an invitation to pause, reflect, and realign as you navigate these transitions—with three journal prompts to guide your thoughts and help you move intentionally into the season ahead.

Seasonal Wellness Check

In any period of transition, the first step is to acknowledge where you’ve been. This seemingly simple act—pausing to reflect and give language to your experience—lays the foundation for understanding your now.

This awareness is essential to consciously choosing who you are becoming. Intention is a deliberate practice. It asks for stillness, breath, and mindful choice—things we forfeit when we move by habit or drift without direction.

A wellness check offers a holistic way to assess your well-being—mind, body, and energy alignment. In the context of seasons, the approach becomes more focused. Though wholeness remains central, here we reflect deliberately on who we were in the season just passed.

When we honor time and live with reverence and gratitude, living with purpose begins to feel innate. Wellness checks anchor us to our thoughts, actions, and use of time, keeping us accountable to the life we’re cultivating.

Seasons Change… Breathe: 3 Journal prompts for reflection

As we move into a new season, it helps to pause and define our intentions.

1. Who do you wish to become?
2. What habits, practices, or hobbies will you carry forward?
3. Which environments will allow your seeds of commitment to flourish?

These questions are not just to be asked—but answered with care.

In our commitment to self, mindfulness is key. It’s not enough to state intentions; we must consciously practice becoming the person we envision.

Journaling can help anchor this process. It creates space for calm, clarity, and honest expression. The simple act of returning to the page is an act of devotion, a quiet accountability to the self you’re shaping.

As you acclimate to the changing season, take time to recognize what the last one meant for you. Embrace the difficulties and struggles as well as the triumphs. Remember: the moment a failure is acknowledged, it ceases to be failure. Allow each lesson to propel you forward and let honesty shape your character.
